My studio is a place for artists of all ages to
explore, create and learn new skills and techniques. Through a
variety of art media and exposure to great works of art,
students will be encouraged and inspired to create their own
works of art! What are the qualities of a good art program? I
believe it is the balance of the following components that truly
makes a great art experience!
The Creative Process:
I believe in letting a child find their own
direction with gentle guidance and encouragement. We live in a
society that is fast paced and automated. In the creative
process, children and adults have a chance to tap into and
connect to their creative self.
Art Awareness:
I also believe it is important to engage both
children and adults in an awareness of art around them. Through
looking at art from the past and present, we can learn about
where we have come from and where we are going. When we connect
process art projects with examining works of art, we create new
meaning and understanding of the world around us. It is very
important that every young person comes into direct contact with
the arts—not only as a passive observer, but also as an active
participant.
Learning New Skills and Vocabulary:
Children are sponges ready to learn! Through
hands on art activities, children are given the opportunity to
learn new skills and techniques.
