Art has been my passion for as long as I can
remember. I feel lucky that my job is so much fun!
I’m a native Houstonian. I studied Fine Arts at
the University of Texas in Austin for two years and received my
Bachelor of Art in Art Education from University of Houston.
For
four years I worked as the Director for the Jewish Community
Center’s Children’s School of Art, where I supervised and
directed the summer arts programs and after school art classes.
I was also fortunate to have the experience of being part of the Shlenker School Faculty teaching art.
I am currently the art teacher at Herod
Elementary School-the most awesome, rockin Elementary School
ever! I also teach art for Congregation Beth Israel’s Religious School.
I
love working with children and adults of all ages. It
invigorates my creative self, and is always interesting and
exciting! I am continually learning and growing from the
experience of teaching art to children and adults.
I
am a recipient of a Fellowship from
Fund For Teachers and
participated in painting/creativity workshop in Eslaen, a
retreat center in California.
There I spent ten days
working intensively with a painting process
developed by
Michele Cassou, founder of The Point Zero Method, and author
of
Point Zero Painting, Creativity
Without Limits.
People
ask me, how can you teach all year in school and then do this
summer art program? I tell them, this summer art stuff is a
blast! Truly, this is relaxing to me, and a place to try out new
projects in small groups and fine tune skills of my own. I have
just as much fun as the kids!
I
look forward to seeing you in the art studio!
