SUMMER ART CAMP 2010 INFO IS HERE!!

More information and enrollment links are on the Summer Art Page!

All classes are for one week and are from 9:30-12 unless otherwise noted.
(Paper Capers and Crafty Chics are afternoon classes)

May 31-June 4: It’s All About Me!: The world does revolve around YOU! Create a variety of self portraits including a Andy Warhol style pop portrait, looking in the mirror portrait, full body drawing and more!

June 7-11: Totally Psychedelic!: FULL Tie dye and lemonade sky! Everything is totally groovy this week, as we embrace our inner groovy artist!

June 14-18: Paint Palooza: FULL Every day we will experiment with different kinds of paint including watercolors, acrylics, glass paint, and tempera on various paint surfaces, such as canvas, paper, and wood!

June 21-25: Meet the Masters: Let’s get to know a new artist each day-Degas, Joseph Cornell, Kandinsky, Blue Dog artist George Rodrigue and Fridah Khalo.

July 5-8: Twilight Art Camp for Tweens and Teens:(evening class 6:30-9:00): Whether  you are "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob",  your teen doesn't want to miss out on "Twilight Art Camp" at Marla's Art Studio. Just for tweens and teens, grades 5 and up, this week will be everything Twilight, from making jewelry, bookmarks, magnets and more crafty Twilight finds!

July 5-9: One Day Wonders: Sign up for a day or two or the whole week!

Monday, July 5: Simply Still Lifes-create painted still lifes inspired by the masters!

Tuesday-Dragonology-dragons in paint, clay and more!

Wednesday-Outrageous Origami-Origami all day in all colors!

Thursday-Printmaking 101-explore various kinds of printmaking and leave with a whole book of prints!

Friday-“Softies” Soft Sculptures-sew little cutsie “softies”, imaginary cutesy animals and creatures….

July 12-16 Van Gogh-a-Go Go!: Create works of art inspired by the artist Van Gogh. Paint your own Starry Night, create a diorama of his famous painting, The Bedroom, examine sunflowers and paint your own in this week of Van Gogh fun.

July 12-16 Paper Capers: (afternoon class 2:30-4:00): Everything paper! Origami dyed paper, paper-making, paste paper, marbling and more!

July 19-23 Sculpture -a –Thon: FULL Create exciting sculptures using both innovative and traditional materials. Combine plaster-craft, found objects, wire, clay and much more to make amazing 3-D art.

July 19-23 Crafty Chics:( afternoon class 2:30-4:00) Classy meets campy style as we incorporate everything from paint, fabric, collage, embellishments, and a heavy dose of glitter to create our own amazing crafts!

New for August! I am bringing in a super art specialist to fill in for some art classes while I am in staff training for my "school year job". Let me introduce Rachel Stevens, art teacher! She's a senior art student at University of St. Thomas and has been teaching art to kids for several years. Most recently, she was the arts specialist at URJ Greene Family Camp! We are working together to provide awesome art adventures for kids the month of August. I have come up with some amazing activities that I know your kids will love plus, they will love Rachel. I will be stopping in every day at the studio to visit and say hello to the kids too!

Here's what we have going for August:

August 9-13 One Day Wonders 1: Sign up for one day or all days! One day is $40.00 and the week is $175.00 (Click here for enrollment form)

Monday: Duct Tape Day: Use duct tape of all colors to create wallets, bracelets and more!

Tuesday: Bottlecap Art! Make magnets and jewelry from recycled bottlecaps!

Wednesday: Cupcake Day: Use polymer clay to make adorable cupcakes to keep forever, decorate a cupcake and make cupcake themed art!

Thursday: For the Birds: Make a unique birdfeeder and paint tropical birds!

Friday: Beading Bonanza: Create one of a kind beaded bracelets and necklaces!

August 16-20: One Day Wonders 2: Sign up for one day or all days! One day is $40.00 and the week is $175.00 (Click here for enrollment form)

Monday: Mini Munchies: Create mini hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza and more with polymer clay. Create jewelry or magnets with it!

Tuesday: Wacky Wire: Colorful wire combined with creativity to make wacky people sculptures!

Wednesday: Yarntastic: Everything yarn today...make a "god's eye", weave with yarn and create a yarn painting!

Thursday: Shrinky Dink Thursday!: Create shrink art charms and pendants!

Friday: Fairy Fun: Fairies are the inspiration as we paint and create fairy art!
